Miss Clare Beesley

Clare has had an extremely successful career in dance and began at the age of two under the tuition of Margaret Upton at the original Mala School of Dancing. Dancing has always been more than a hobby for Clare and she set about her dream of becoming a professional dancer by training up to five times a week from a young age. Over many years Miss Clare built up considerable expertise in a variety of dance styles including Classical Ballet, Tap, Modern theatre, Street Dance, Freestyle Disco, Latin American, Ballroom, Rock and Roll and Contemporary Dance. She also studied Drama and Musical Theatre extensively throughout her training.

Clare has won countless gold medals and awards in competitions and boasts an outstanding examination record, she has also appeared in various productions, galas and festivals with considerable success.

At sixteen Clare was awarded a place at the world renowned Laine Theatre Arts and won scholarships from both Laine’s itself and Essex County Council based on her ability. Here she would train alongside many future West End, Music and TV stars including Lee Latchford-Evans from Steps and Victoria Beckham to name just a couple. During her four years of professional tuition at Laine’s Clare appeared in a number of professional productions including the Royal Variety Performance, Cabarets for the Variety Club of Great Britain and ‘Bottle Imp’ for the BBC amongst many others. Clare also appeared alongside Sean Bean in the film ‘Essex Boys’. Clare’s professional training included all forms of dance, musical theatre and vocal coaching; she also studied anatomy and physiology as well as teacher training.

After graduating Clare taught as Ballet Principal of two large local dance schools gaining valuable experience before taking over as the Principal of Mala in the year 2000. Under her direction the school has grown from 30 students to almost 200 today. As a teacher Clare strives to inspire her students to achieve the highest standards and be the best performer that they can be regardless of age or ability – this is reflected in the schools 100% exam pass rate and outstanding competition successes.


Bradley Muggleton      

Bradley Muggleton

Brad specialises in Street Dance and teaches classes that encompass lyrical hip-hop, popping & locking, breaking and more. Brad is highly regarded in the street dance industry as a dancer, choreographer and also as an adjudicator. He has a stellar competitive record having won numerous national awards for breaking and street. He has appeared in the semi-final stages of Britain’s Got Talent which gained him national television exposure and he has danced professionally in various roles. We are delighted to have him as a part of our team.

Mr Mark Richardson

Miss Veronica O’keefe

B.A. B.Mus.Grad. Dip.Ed. Mus. PG Dip. Opera Perf.

Veronica is fully qualified singing teacher and vocal coach, and is originally from Cork Ireland

She holds B.A., B.Mus. And Grad Dip Ed Degrees from University Colleges Cork and Limerick along with a Post Grad Diploma in Opera Performance from Birkbeck College University of London.

Veronica has performed in St. Paul’s Southwark London Chelmsford Cathedrals, St. Martin-in-the-Fields London, National Concert Halls Dublin and University of Limerick Ireland and in Europe.

She has also made television appearances on R.T.E. Ireland’s national broadcaster along with sessions for BBC Cambridge.

Mrs Emma Rix

Emma has danced from a very young age and trained at the Harlequin School of Dance under the tutelage of Susan Everett and then our very own Miss Clare. Emma holds her Associate examinations with BATD & Emma now teaches our junior & grade 1 Ballet, Modern & Tap classes as well as being the head of History at St Bernard’s High School for Girls.

Miss Storme Playell  AISTD

Storme started dancing at the age of 3 she gained a scholarship and first started training at the Urdang Academy and continued at Masters performing Arts college gaining a diploma in Dance and Musical Theatre. She also trained in Russia where she learned the Kirov Ballet Syllabus. Throughout her training she gained all her Ballet, Tap and Modern Major Examinations and also her ISTD teaching Associates.

Miss Arizona Snow

Arizona is a multi time street dance champion and a dance expert at multiple styles, including locking and hip hop. She has been dancing since the age of 3 and has performed in movies, London stage shows and music videos.

Miss Isabelle Beesley 

Miss Issy has been trained by Bradley and Miss Clare right here at Mala Dance. Miss Issy was an original member of the UDO World Championship Team ‘Mala Elite’. She is an accomplished Break dancer and has appeared most recently as a Dancer for the Movie Premier of ‘ Guardian’s of The Galaxy 2’  she was also a dancer in the Movie ‘ Allstarz’ as well a numerous show’s and displays.

Isabelle is also Miss Clare’s eldest daughter!!

Mrs Angela Wagstaff 


Angela is the school secretary and receptionist and has a wealth of experience in both dance and administration having worked in the offices of both primary and secondary schools and been an active dancer in her youth at the original Mala Dance.
